Without having good intelligence to guide your path, it is highly unlikely that your strategic plans will return an optimum profit.

When much that we are doing is seemingly unknown, taking us into uncharted waters, and no-one else around us has the knowledge or experience to guide us to make a balanced decision, or when there is no evidence that the outcome we seek is achievable – we need to use the collective wisdom of academia, research, international experience and knowledge, to help guide us to make a decision.

In our view, there is insufficient data collected on the manufacturing, to enable any form of decision making. We want to make a difference, and elected to develop or acquire the necessary tools to help get more information on the Manufacturing Sector, and more particularly on SMEs. We responded to a call from the RSA Clusters Group to find out, once and for all, “who manufactures what products in South Africa”, “where are they based”, and “how many people are employed with what skills. (see also Industry Profiles below). This task has been slow going without a budget. We hope to receive support from collaboration partners, who will fund the project, and help us t expand the scope to launch a data management tool for the RSA Clusters Manufacturing cluster database.

There is a lot more research needed, and it is hoped that more Doctoral thesis will focus on clusters in South Africa, and neighboring regions

Recapitalise has the tools to conduct research, and develop product pricing benchmarks. Depending on the need, we assist competitors buy opposition products, and to “tear down” that product to assess and understand the product quality, technologies applied, materials used, weight, build dynamics, and performance in the finest detail. We are interested in expanding this work in collaboration with interested Technology Stations, and Universities.

Benchmarks help everyone to know what the average selling price is of goods and services in the market.

We use physical and digital tools to help us analyse products, local (digital process coming soon) and international markets, and to develop relevant Intelligence. We want industries to to support and enable those with Intellectual Property, to innovate by buying better, and to discover, who in Manufacturing, makes what and for whom, and who in the services cluster has the skills to facilitate new opportunities.

We have made it our business to have the capacity and knowledge to provide smart solutions to connect, and link, players in seamless horizontal, or vertical digital Supply Chains.

Masterplans

Recapitalise SA support the view that the Master planning process is an excellent mechanism for growing a Supply Chain, in the hands of an (Industry-led) Cluster Initiative for industry, government, and stakeholder groups, to reconcile their thoughts and priorities around economic development principles, and industry goals. We promote industry developing growth pathways, and securing the necessary support for their plans. Going hand in glove with this view, is the need for industry self monitoring and reporting to stakeholders.

We do not promote the idea of government centralizing responsibility for interventions, preferring to promote local engagements with district and local municipalities.
